About the Role
Emerald Locums, on behalf of our client, is recruiting a Senior Speech & Language Therapist to join the team within an adult acute mental health service in Dublin. This role is part-time (4–6 hours per week) and offers flexibility for candidates seeking to balance locum work alongside other commitments.
The successful candidate will provide assessment and intervention to service users presenting with communication, language, and swallowing difficulties associated with complex mental health conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct specialist assessment and therapy for adults within an acute mental health setting.
- Support patients experiencing communication challenges related to psychiatric illness, medication side effects, or co-existing conditions.
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual needs.
- Provide guidance and support to the multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and occupational therapists.
- Contribute to care planning, discharge planning, and case conferences.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with CORU and service standards.
Requirements
- CORU registration as a Speech & Language Therapist.
- Recognised qualification in Speech & Language Therapy.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ post-qualification experience, including work within adult mental health, acute, or complex needs settings.
- Strong knowledge of mental health presentations and their impact on communication.
- Excellent interpersonal and MDT collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently within a limited weekly schedule.
